Hello World!

I had to look up 'how to start writing a blog post' for this...

Hello World!

Hey you! I am Rimika and welcome to my blog site. Thanks for being here!

Because my search engine told me to start with a question if I wanted to "Start My Blog Post with a Bang", I am going to ask (and answer) a really important question : What are you doing here? I mean on this blog site, of all places you could possibly be on the internet.

Well, because this is a one-sided conversation and I am the one with the mic (that's the best part about blogging), let me answer it for you. You are here to see me rant, sort through my thoughts, go through the motions, come up with ideas, discard those ideas, and go through life. But, most importantly, you are here to see me grow!

"In order to be found, you have to be findable".

This quote from Austin Kleon's Show Your Work sums up the reason I have always wanted to start a blog. I wanted to be found. However, reading this book made me realize how wrong I was about the order of steps needed to fulfill that desire. I thought, I needed to master a skill before I could put it out there for others to criticize. But I don't. I need to put myself out there for others to criticize before I am able to master that skill. This is precisely why I want to start this blog – in order to make myself 'findable' by other people, but more importantly, myself.

I want to document and reflect upon the various aspects of my life. I want to introspect my thoughts. I want to celebrate my strengths and learn from my weaknesses. Ultimately, my only goal with this blog is to create a mirror for myself that gets clearer and clearer with every post I publish.

Before, I get too philosophical (my friends probably hate me for it), here's what I have planned for my blog so far. I want to write about :

  • the books I am reading and my takeaways
  • the projects I am working on
  • (maybe) weekly updates on life
  • my favorite coffee shops and restaurants
  • something new that I learnt
  • my failures (and my successes)
  • my skills and experiences in the past
  • why I am the way I am
  • dump my thoughts

I hope you are as excited to read as I am to write and publish. If you think I did an extremely poor job of actually introducing myself, I agree. But well, that's the point because there's so much to me (or anyone) than I could have captured in this one post.

Which is why, you should definitely subscribe! And if you don't, that's okay too. I'll still keep writing :)
